About RIVER

RIVER is a team of visual-thinkers led by Brittany Bennett, Dr. Ray Sze, and Elizabeth Silvestro.

Formed in 2019, RIVER is becoming a sought-after resource in Radiology at CHOP. We create visuals for radiologists, academic authors, nurses, technologists, and administrative staff to improve visual communication. We are excited to see where the current will take us!

How can illustrations help in a Radiology Department?

Radiology is a distinctly visual field of medicine. Illustrations and other visual media help communicate:

  • How imaging machines work (medical physics)

  • How to safely use equipment

  • Techniques and steps of a procedure

  • What the anatomy looks like when it's not visible in the image

  • Normal vs abnormal anatomy at different ages

  • An experimental set up

  • A proposed research plan for a grant application

  • Biochemistry and pathophysiology related to radiology

  • And more!
